The BionX line of power assists operate as a kind of "Human amplfiier" ; the system measured the riders effort by way of a torque sensor in the rear hub and multiplies it by one of four different levels ranging from 25% up to 200%. At the 200% setting, it is the equivalent of having two additional riders helping to move you along! The BionX power assists also feature regenerative braking which helps to extend the battery range.
