Join in the fun as we celebrate the diversity of Human Power. As before, the event is intended to inspire the imagination and to broaden horizons and awareness of the range and variety of human powered machines as sustainable, healthful, practical and fun means of transportation.

This year, the 2009 New England HPV Rally will be held in conjunction with the Portsmouth Sustainability Fair at the Portsmouth Middle School.

Schedule of Events (updated 4/5/09):

9:30: Assemble for the Kickoff parade, Portsmouth South Mill Pond (across the street from the Middle School)

10:00 – 2:00: Expo portion of the event

2:00 – 5:00 NE HPV participants will take a 25-30 mile ride

The exact route is still to be determined, but a good prospect appears to follow the East Coast Greenway through Strawbery Banke for at least part of it. Strawbery Banke is a very old portion of Portsmouth with some excellent examples of classic New England buildings and the route then passes by some beautiful waterfront, complete with lobster boats.

6:30-?: Bonfire/cookout at the Huggins Farm (see below for more info)

Sunday: AM Ride

Camping:

A fellow named Robert Huggins has generously offered camping at his 80+ acre farm at no charge. The farm is 9 miles from Portsmouth and is located at:

99 Bayview Rd. (actually 110, but 99 is at the head of the drive)
Dover, NH 03820

Running water is available onsite. The evening of Saturday, May 9, he has proposed a cookout/bonfire at the farm.
