The purpose of the NE HPV Rally, now in it's 8th year, is to celebrate human powered vehicles as a practical, healthful, environmentally friendly and exciting means of transportation. Previous Rallies have featured a wide variety of recumbents, velomobiles (enclosed recumbent cycles), electric assisted bicycles, homebrewed and store-bought versions of each of these, and more.

For exhibitors, ride participants and those planning to camp, there will be a minimal charge of $10.00 to cover insurance.

For those who pre-register, there will be a schwag bag with all sorts of neat cycling related goodies.

The event is free to spectators.

Expo portions of the event are free to spectators and consists of show and tell presentations and the chance to interact one-on-one with the owners. Test rides may be had at the discretion of the vehicle owners.

The Expo sessions will offer newbies and old hands alike the opportunity to experience the diversity of human powered vehicles. This is the perfect chance to interact with owners, ask them questions about their ride and check out the machines first hand. All sorts of rigs will be there - everything from fully enclosed velomobiles to load carrying machines to electric assisted cycles.

The ride will be approximately 30 miles at a moderate pace through the beautifully scenic coastal Kennebunk area.

There are absolutely no restrictions on the types of human powered vehicles that may participate in the rally - except that they must have at least partially human powered drive mechanisms and must be roadworthy to participate in the on-road ride. So all riding positions - recumbent, upright, supine, standing on your head, any number of wheels, power assist , fairings, home-built or production, etc., etc. - ALL Human Powered Vehicles ARE WELCOME. The idea is to try to further the development and use of the velomobile and practical human powered vehicles in our part of the world, so the stronger the exchange of ideas at the rally, and the greater variety of vehicles that show up, the better!
