Greenspeed Quad prototype

A Greenspeed press release
(Released Feb 26, 2006 on the BROL Blog)

Paul Sims contemplates his latest creation, the "Quad". Built in conjunction with Reflex Fairing's Don Elliott, the new machine features a head out design, to cut the windscreen and ventilation intricacies out of the design. Built for the circuit, no trike yet has been able to hang onto the quad in the corners. But the future applications for this machine go a lot further than the racing scene. The quad allows for a goodly amount of storage space behind the seat, with out overly affecting the handling of the vehicle. We've been playing with differentials for a while but nothing quite measured up to hard core race conditions. So Paul machined his own that will give a constant rear wheel drive even if one wheel lifts.

The body was modified from existing trike models for this race, but there is huge potential for developing more 'Quadfriendly' designs with lockable storage spaces, rain skirts and the like. Now we are in the process of sending containers to the states we can also over come the hurdle of transporting these with out fear of damage.

Greenspeed Racing will be in Wonthaggi, Victoria, Australia at the Wonthaggi HPV Grand Prix, this week end testing the quad in a punishing 24hr race. Then the quad should be going over to New Zealand for the Commuter Challenge (gurneygears.com).We'll let you know how we go. Expect a run down of the race in Paul's pages on the Greenspeed website. Best regards, Mick.

Although he states that the plans with respect to Greenspeed fairings are not set in concrete and is just what they are currently working towards, Mick Sims adds:

At this stage we are hoping to have 2 different bottoms and 2 different tops, all interchangable.

Two different track widths for the bottoms to suit your trike...

Plus

... A full fairing like the standard reflex...

OR

... a top like the quad in which you would be able to add a skirt for rain protection and remain head out, or opt for a bubble (most likely from Mark at windwrap) that you can add. Both should roll up and be stored int he back if you don't want to use them.

That would be the options for adding to your existing gs trike, and then if you want the full more intergrated VM then you would look at the quad, again with the option of two different tops.

At this stage, we should be getting some fairings out to Jerome this year and he will be getting those around for testing, with a deadline of refining everything to selling season 07.
